HAYRD

How are you really doing?

TRAVEL

When I was a little kid – I always used to say I want to Travel world! Before I could embark on that journey, I became a young mom to not 1 but 2 babies!!

What did I do with my dream of travelling the world? well let me tell you it is even better than I imagined… I now travel with my kids every chance I get or with my husband and with my job I have been blessed with a few travels a year.

With HAYRD Travel I will be vlogging most of my trips to show you some places that you may want to add to your bucket list. I also love recommendations so please feel free to recommend places to visit and things to see.

Here we will talk about going on Solo trips, Girls Trip, Couple getaways, Family vacation etc

We will be collaborating with hotels, airlines etc etc and bring you the very best recommendations and how to travel on a budget but most importantly — How to travel when you have kids — the good, the bad and the ugly side etc..

🇨🇩  My first visit to DR Congo in 30+ years  🇨🇩

I HAVE DECIDED TO DISCOVER MY AUTHENTIC SELF FOR 2023 AND I WANT TO START IT IN MONTH 1 OF THE YEAR✨ IN ORDER TO SELF LOVE MYSELF MORE, TO CARE AND LEARN TO CARE FOR MYSELF FIRST! TO DO THAT, I HAVE TO START WHERE IT ALL STARTED… AFTER 32 YEARS I HAVE DECIDED TO VISIT THE MOTHERLAND ✨ MY HOME COUNTRY 🇨🇩 PLEASE BARE WITH ME AS I TAKE THIS JOURNEY OF DISCOVERING MY AUTHENTIC SELF, MY CULTURE 💕

As a kid the media told all these horror stories about my country, which to some degree was true HOWEVER it wasn’t all what the DRCongo 🇨🇩 is about!Unfortunately that is all I remembered 😢
#childhood #trauma can be caused or due to anything and mine was the fear of returning back to the motherland ✨It felt like it just wouldn’t be a safe place to go visit.

When my family members and other people from the #congolese community started experiencing the real #congo ,the side the media DON’T show it was too good to be true in my head!
I mentally froze and couldn’t bring myself to go see it! Along the way I lost my uncle who named me Don du ciel (Gift from heaven) I lost my grandad, 2 grandmothers, aunts and the worse of all my half Sister that I never got to meet!

When I felt ready I was saying to myself who do I even go there to see? Everyone with a special meaning to me have all passed away and I froze even more!

About 3 years ago I was like “I need to do this for me”. I need to go see my culture, I need to go see a side of Congo that they don’t show! The pandemic 😷 happened and a 4th baby 14 months of #breastfeeding &30+ yrs later it was my time to go!

This is my journey to discovering my authentic self, my time to understand and learn my culture and traditions and more. Closer to the date to arriving and even up on arrival I was numb with no feelings and no expectations ✨
The city I am from they call it “#kinlabelle ”which stands for “Kinshasa the beauty “. My country went through a lot and although Ireland is my home, Congo is everything that makes me “ME”. Growing up in #germany🇩🇪 & #ireland🍀 my father never imposed the Congolese#tradition or #culture on us but he made sure that we never forgot our native language “Lingala” and even if we loved our#pasta and pizzas that we always knew about our foods the “pondu” sort of spinach and “madesu” beans and my mum always made sure to tell us about our culture, families, their upbringing and the beautiful stories they were told as a children.YOU CAN CHOOSE YOUR IDENTITY BUT DON’T FORGET WHERE YOU COME FROM💕
